THE RULES

1. I must complete ONE short film every month of the year 2010.
2. Every film must be at least TWO MINUTES in length, not including credits. There is no maximum length.
3. The finished film will be posted on this website on the LAST DAY of every month, as well as on YouTube and various other video sharing websites. If the film is not posted on that day, (BLANK) WILL HAPPEN.
4. Films can and will be collaborations, but should creatively rest mostly on my shoulders to count as fulfilling my quota. This includes directing and/or editing/writing/producing.
5. Any materials utilized within, i.e. music, graphics, etc. will have to be used with permission. No using copyrighted work unless I have permission for it or usage falls under fair use.
6. The bulk of work on a movie has to happen within the year 2010. Meaning any movie that I’ve done work on in previous years and haven’t finished (which is pretty much most of them) won’t count if I finish it up and post it. Also, creating multiple movies in a month aren’t allowed to pad the quota. If I make three short films in February, that doesn’t mean I get to sit on my ass and do nothing until May. One new movie EVERY month.
7. That being said, rule 7 shall flesh out rule 6. Principal photography and all post production must happen within the month of the posting. I am allowing myself to do any pre-production ahead of time, meaning I can write and plan a movie in February, and then shoot and edit it in March for my March posting.
8. So what will count as a movie? We’ll have to leave that up to common sense. Take me to task if you think I’m skimping one month. The movies I make will range from narrative and documentary, to experimental or music videos. But if I post a still image of a dog throwing up on a baby that lasts for ten minutes while the Benny Hill theme plays on repeat, let me know I’m an asshole. Not much anyone can do beyond that.
